A simple photometric method has been developed for the determination of prochlorperazine maleate (PCP) and trifluperazine HCI (TEP) in pure form and in pharmaceutical preparations. Aliquots containing 50-1000 mug/ml of sample and a known amount of 0.3N vanadium (V) reagent and 0.5 ml, 8N H2SO4 are heated in boiling water bath for 10 min till a permanent colour is obtained. The absorbance of this solution is measured at 680 m mu. Results are within +/- 1 percent error.
