The pure mucilage of Isapgol, free from seed residues, husks (hemicellulose) and other extraneous matter was found to have better suspending and emulsifying power and an equivalent binding power when compared with those of gum tragacanth and methyl-cellulose. Analytical standards of this pure mucilage have been described.
