The method described here is based on the formation of a pink coloured ion-pair complex when Ranitidine is treated with Rose Bengal in aqueous solution at pH 7.0 to 7.4. The pink complex soluble in dichloromethane exhibits maximum absorption at 550 nm. The colour was found to be stable for more than an hour.
