N-Hydroxymethyl derivative of 2-phenyl-4-quinoline carboxamide was prepared and condensed with a few active hydrogen containing compounds (Salicylic acid. Beta-resorcilic acid, phthalimide, phenacetin and acetaminophen). N-hydroxy methyl derivative of cinchophen was found to be a potent analgesic and its product with salicylic acid and Beta-resorcilic acid showed good antiinflammatory activity.
