Synthesis are described for a series of 2-carboylmethylthio and 2-[w. (diamethylaminoalkyl) thio]-3-alkyl (or aryl)-4 (3H)-qinazolinones (I) as the key intermediates. Twelve of the synthetic compounds were tested for their CNS activities in mice and shown to be either CNS depressants of stimulants.
