The N-Hydroxymethyl chlorphensin carbonate was found to have greater water solubility, a faster intrinsic dissolution rate and lower lipophilicity than chlorphensin carbamate. It was subject to specific acid and base catalysis. Yhe rate of decomposition followed first-order kinetics.
