2-Amino-3-cyano-4-substituted-5-phenylpyridines (I) when reacted with formamide, urea and thiourea, 4-amino-5-substituted-7-phenylpyrido [2,3-d] pyrimidines (II), 4-amino-5-substituted-7-phenylpyrido [2,3-d] pyrimidin-2 (1H)-ones (III) and 4-amino-5-substituted-7-phenylpyrido [2,3-d]-pyrimidin-2 (1H)-thiones (IV) were obtained respectively. Some of the synthesized compounds II, III and IV were tested for analgesic activity.
