Simple, rapid and senstive spectrophotofluorometric and fluorodensitometric methods for the estimation of allyloestrenol are described. The drug on heating with sulphuric acid reagent in methanol yields a fluorescent derivative which has excitation lamda max at about 292 nm and emission lamda max at about 355 nm. It obeys Beer's law in the concentration range of 0.8 to 8 mcg/ml. Alternatively the drug is quantitated by the use of TLC densitometer (scanner). The methods are found to be accurste.
