2-Chloro-7-methoxy-quinoline-3-carboxaldehyde I on reaction with hydrazine hydrate, yield Namino- 2-chloro-7-methoxy quinolin-3-yl azomethine II, which on reaction with acid chloride and 5-oxazolinone derivatives furnished arylamide Illa-o and 5-oxo imidazoline IVa-o respectively. All the products were screened for antimicrobial activity against several microbes.
