Abstract
A spectrophotometric method for the estimation of mianserin (M.HCI) based on its reaction with 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrozone (MBTH) in presence of Fe (III) ion yielding a violet coloured chromogen with absorption maxima at 580 nm is reported. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 1 to 16 mcg/ml. The proposed method is applicable to the Pune drug powder and its pharmaceutical dosage forms.
