Abstract

In view of the potent analgesic, antiinflammatory and antimicrobial activities exhibited by quinazolin-4(3H)-ones, a series of novel 2-mercapto-3-(substitutedmethyl amino)quinazolin-4(3H)-ones have been synthesized. When these compounds were evaluated for their analgesic, antiinflammatory and antibacterial activities, the compounds, I, II, Ill, IV, V and X exhibited comparable analgesic activity with the standard diclofenac sodium and it was found to be significant as compared to control.
