Preparation of aerosol dosage forms of dexamethasone. |
p. 221 |
| A Ali, SN Sharma A non-aqueous topical aerosol spray of Dexamethasone using a mixture of liquid fluorohydrocarbons as propeliant was developed and stability using different packages and adjuvants was studied. The product was evaluated by usual tests and found to be satisfactory. |

Synthesis and invitro amoebicidal activity of some n,n'-disubstituted diamine dihydrochlorides. |
p. 225 |
| PL Kachroo, R Gupta, R Wadhwan Sixteen N'-alkyl and N'-aryl-N-[3-(2, 4-dialkoxy-5-alkylphenyl) propyl]-1, 2- diaminoethanes (IV) have been synthesised by treatment of 2,4-dialkoxy-5-alkylbenzene-propanoylchlorides with glycine followed by conversion of the resultant acids (III) into acid chlorides; condensation of acid chlorides with amines and LAH reduction of resultant diamides. The diamines isolated as dihydrochlorides have been tested in vitro for amoebicidal activity against E. histolytica. |

Formulation and evaluation of fast release lorazepam. |
p. 233 |
| GR Behra, SP Vyas, SK Jain Solid dispersions of lorazepam were prepared using urea, PEG-6000, PEG-4000 and mannitol as carriers by temprature fusion method. These were studied for differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction and in vitro dissolution. In vivo absorption studies were made with promissing products, using dogs. |

Dielectric study of sulfonamides. |
p. 236 |
| R Dube, DD Santani Dielectric constants, dielectric dispersion and loss tangents of nine sulfonamides were determined. The results obtained were used to discuss their mechanism of polarisation. Relationship between the dielectric dispersion and water solubility was studied. |

Standardization of pure isapgol (plantago ovata) mucilage for pharmaceutical use. |
p. 238 |
| M Khanna, RC Nandi, S Singh, GK Jain, J PS Sarin The pure mucilage of Isapgol, free from seed residues, husks (hemicellulose) and other extraneous matter was found to have better suspending and emulsifying power and an equivalent binding power when compared with those of gum tragacanth and methyl-cellulose. Analytical standards of this pure mucilage have been described. |

Study on stem callus of solanum platanifolium sims. |
p. 240 |
| RK Jaggi, JK Bhatnagar, JS Qadry, VK Kapoor Callus cultures were established from the stem explants of the plant Solanum platanifolium Sims. Three media, namely BW, BMS and BMSKS were used for the production of the maximum biomass of callus. Effect of IAA, NAA and 2,4-D alone as well as in combination with Kn was observed on the induction and further growth of callus, Optimum yield of callus was obtained on BMS + 2,4-D (1-2 ppm) + Kn (0.1-5 ppm) and BMS + NAA (10 ppm) + Kn (1-5 ppm) in the presence of light. GC-MS analysis of the grown calli showed the presence of Beta-sitosteral and lupeol. The different growth regulators produced the same pattern of secondary metabolites in the calli. |

Effect of solvent composition on the stability of butaperazine dimaleate. |
p. 242 |
| GN Singh, RP Gupta Effect of solvent composition on the stability of butaperazine dimaleate is reported. Replacement of medium by 25 percent w/v of dextrose and sucrose increases the rate of degradation of this drug. However, solvent of lower polarity like alcohol and glycerine have shown marked stabilizing effect. |

A rapid titrimetric method for the determination of isoniazid in drugs. |
p. 245 |
| BC Verma, S Kumar, P Kumar, DK Sharma, A Sood A simple, rapid and reliable method for the determination of isoniazid, based on its oxidimetric titration with lead (IV) acetate in glacial acetic acid medium, is described. The end-point may be detected visually using quinalizarin indicator or potentiometrically using platinum wire indicator electrode and modified calomel reference electrode. |
